COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS — A woman killed in a single-car rollover on I-215 Tuesday has been identified, police said.
Police identified the driver as Kirsten K. Procter, 50. She was the only person in the car at the time of the accident. Two dogs traveling with her were were injured but not killed, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
There were two minor accidents on I-215 causing traffic to slow down at the time of the accident, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. Procter was traveling northbound in a 2002 Lincoln Navigator when she swerved to the left, over corrected and rolled at least four times. The vehicle came to a stop on the east side of the freeway.
"Traffic had just merely slowed down; it wasn't stopped, there were no travel lanes blocked," UHP Sgt. Stephen Manful said. "For whatever reason, we don't know why, she went off the road to the left, then back on across all traffic lanes."
The northbound lanes of I-215 were closed at 6200 South, but have since reopened.
Investigators are trying to determine if speed, alcohol or drugs were a factor.
