DAVIS COUNTY — Police officers and search and rescue volunteers were able to rescue a dog from a swift-moving river Sunday.
Davis County police officers received a report Sunday of two dogs stranded in Farmington Canyon along a river. A Davis County deputy responded to the area and located one of the dogs — a brown, female, short-haired German Pointer — stranded on the side of the river.
Police said the river was high due to the spring snow run-off, and the dog was wet and shivering when the deputy located it. Search and Rescue volunteers were dispatched to the scene and worked with officers to bring the dog safely across the river.
The dog was taken to a local veterinarian to be checked for injuries and was then taken to animal control, police said.
The Davis County Sheriff's Office said that animal control was able to reunite the owner with the German Pointer on Monday.
