CLEARFIELD — One woman is dead and a man is in critical condition after a rollover crash Saturday morning on I-15 near milepost 336.

Around 7:43 a.m., Michael David "Dave" Riley of Kaysville was driving a Toyota Sequoia with his wife Rebecca "Becky" Riley in the passenger seat and their four children Adalyn, Breanna, Collin, and Danielle also inside, when the vehicle lost control and struck a concrete median near 650 North in Clearfield, police said.

The vehicle shot to the right and went off an embankment before rolling several times and landing at the bottom of the embankment.

Becky Riley suffered fatal injuries in the accident, and Dave Riley was transported by Life Flight to Mckay-Dee Hospital in critical condition with several fractures. The children suffered minor injuries and were transported to the same hospital by ambulance, according to police.

Utah Highway Patrol Col. Daniel Fuhr tweeted that it was a family of six, and the kids were "buckled in tight," but one parent was not properly wearing a seat belt.

Fuhr also reminded drivers and passengers that seat belts can save lives.

2nd day of 100 deadliest days and already the first fatal crash. Please remember to buckle up. That little belt will save you. — UHP Colonel (@UHP_Colonel) May 24, 2014

The "100 deadliest days" refer to the usual 35 percent increase in traffic fatalities between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.

"The Becky Riley Fund" has been set up at America First Credit Union to help the Riley family (account number 9066002)*.
