TAYLORSVILLE — Speed may have been a factor in a crash that sent a car into trees and caused it to roll, police said.
Nick Weiner, who lives near 5600 Capitol Reef Drive in Taylorsville, said he heard a loud noise around 3:10 a.m.
When he went outside, he saw the car that had crashed into some trees and rolled.
He said a group of what appeared to be teenagers was trying to flip the car right-side up. That didn't work because the car was basically totaled.
“The car’s totaled. All six airbags went off in the front. The front tire is curled underneath with the tire missing,” he said.
When police arrived the group fled and the driver started walking home.
Police talked to him then said alcohol was not a factor. They believe the driver may have been going too fast around a curve.
