PROVO — Police are investigating the "suspicious" death of a 60-year-old woman whose body was found inside her home Wednesday afternoon.

Provo Police Lt. Matthew Siufanua said at around 4 p.m. dispatchers recieved a call from a man reporting that he'd found his mother dead inside her house at 1675 W. 50 North. The man told police the death appeared suspicious, Siufanua said.

When officers arrived at the home and spoke with the son, they agreed to the suspicious nature of the situation. At that point, Siufanua said, detectives were called in to investigate.

The lieutenant would not elaborate on why the officers thought the death was suspicious, but he said it's clear the woman did not die of natural causes.

The woman's body was taken to the medical examiner's office, Siufanua said. Her name was not released.

Detectives have not called the woman's death a homicide. They're asking anyone who was in the area Wednesday afternoon and might have information about the case to call Provo police at 801-852-6210.
