SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Transit Authority will put cameras on all trains, in stations and in buses to assist in cases of accidents and incidents on their vehicles and trains.

The SmartDrive Safety system will help UTA in determining the series of events when incidents occur as well as giving important information to officials about how to improve safety. It will also protect operators from threats such as robbery, disruptive passengers and road rage.

Transit in Washington, D.C.; Los Angeles; Portland, Oregon; Las Vegas; and San Francisco already use a similar camera system to ensure safety for all involved with public transportation.
