SALT LAKE CITY — Two boys, one just 3 years old, narrowly escaped injury Sunday when someone fired five shots into their bedroom, police said.

About 11:15 p.m., a vehicle drove up to 1005 S. Emery St. (1170 West) and someone fired five rounds into a bedroom window, said Salt Lake police detective Greg Wilking. Two children were in the room at the time, one 14 and the other 3, he said. Neither boy was injured.

The older boy told police he heard a knock at the door just a minute prior to the shots being fired, according to police.

The boys' mother was not at home at the time, Wilking said. She reportedly had gone to the store.

Investigators did not have any information on possible suspects Monday. Wilking did not immediately know if police had been called to the residence before.

Anyone with information on the shooting can call police at 801-799-3000.
