LOGAN — Investigators said a heat lamp started a fire that damaged a barn in Logan.
The fire started around 7 p.m. Thursday. Property owner Marilyn Parker said she knew exactly when it started.
“We were visiting in the living room when we heard an explosion and looked west to the barn. There was a plume of smoke and within seconds there was another explosion and the whole thing was engulfed in flames," she said.
Firefighters arrived and extinguished the fire.
Investigators found that a heat lamp used to warm baby chicks started the fire. No one was injured but the baby chicks did not survive.
The two-story barn suffered about $80,000 in damage.
