AMERICAN FORK — Police are looking for two armed men who robbed a store Thursday night.

The Jalisco market in American Fork — a store that's been here since 2005, selling grocery items from Mexico — was robbed just before closing Thursday night.

"Everyone is OK, which is most important, but it was very, very scary,” Andrea Arechiga said.

Surveillance video shows aggressive robbers bursting through the door.

“The clerk became frightened. She laid down on the ground by herself. She doesn’t speak English,” Lt. Sam Lilliard of the American Fork Police Department said. “They were talking to her in English and she just laid herself on the ground and stayed out of the way.”

As the robbers searched for cash, they also forced a customer who walked into the store down on the floor at gunpoint. They stole that customer's wallet. For the Arechiga family, it is frustrating to watch.

“They come in here with big huge guns scaring us all after all the hard work we have put into this business for so many years and they think they can come in and take easy money,” Arechiga said.

Police set up a perimeter as soon as the call came in, but the robbers got away. They are now comparing notes with Orem police, who dealt with similar robberies at Hispanic markets last month.

Juan Arechiga vows to fight back against crime so he can keep serving his loyal customers.

“He says he hopes we catch them soon. He’s thankful we live in a safe city and that everyone can still feel safe to shop here,” Andrea Arechiga said. “But hopefully they catch these guys and people can help us find them.”
