'SALT LAKE CITY — A new study ranks East Central in Salt Lake City as one of the best neighborhoods to live in for young people.

On their list of the top 25 best areas, the East Central area of Salt Lake City ranked 20th out of the top 25 in the nation when it comes to livability for younger residents. Niche looked at factors like the age of the population, median rent amount, median income levels, racial diversity and unemployment rates.
Twenty-eight percent of the population of East Central, which comprises the area northeast of Liberty Park in Salt Lake City, is between the ages of 25-35 years old, according to the data; 29 percent have a bachelor’s degree or higher and the median income is a little over $43,000 a year.
The majority of East Central residents rent their home or apartment (61 percent) and the area has a relatively low crime rate compared to the other areas of similar size around the county.
“East Central is a unique and diverse community with lots of wide, grassy parks and great shopping, and it's within walking distance of the city’s transit options,” economics website businessinsider.com stated.
The Greenpoint neighborhood in New York City topped the list, followed by South River City in Austin and Arlington, just outside of Washington, D.C.
