OGDEN — A 23-year-old man is in serious condition after being shot Wednesday morning, police say.

Ogden police officers responded to reports of a shooting on the 600 block of 7th Street at around 3:30 a.m. When officers arrived on scene, they found a 23-year-old sitting on the sidewalk in front of a residence with a bullet wound in his right side. A witness on the scene told police that the man had been shot by another man who was walking across the street.

The victim was very uncooperative with officers and refused to disclose any information besides the fact that he was shot, Ogden police said. However, police learned from a witness that the man had been shot while standing in front of his home.

The man who shot the victim allegedly fired five shots and then ran west on 7th Street. A white vehicle was seen leaving the scene after the shooting.

Police discovered two bullet holes located in a fence near the area the victim was located. The witness described the shooter as an adult male wearing a long, white-sleeve shirt or jacket. The ethnicity and age of the man was unknown.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and was reported in critical but stable condition.

Gang detectives are investigating the incident.
