WILLARD, Box Elder County — A man flying an Ultralight aircraft Tuesday evening fell to his death, the Utah State Parks reported.
The 60-year-old man was found near the road of a campground at Willard Bay State Park. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at a Box Elder County area hospital.
A passerby saw him land on the road, near the Willow and Cottonwood campgrounds, and called for medical help. Lt. Eric Stucki of the Utah State Parks said the cause of the fall was unknown, and it was unclear whether the man had been flying alone or with companions.
When the victim was discovered, medical professionals performed CPR and transported him by ground to the hospital. The Utah State Parks PIO tweeted at 7:20 p.m. that the victim had died.
More information will be released as it becomes available. The National Transportation Safety Board, Utah State Park rangers and Box Elder County officials are investigating the crash.
