SALT LAKE CITY — Wendsday's Child, 10-year-old Alden, was officially adopted a year after his appearance on KSL.

When Wednesday's Child first met Alden last winter, he was watching his favorite team, the Utah Jazz, during a pre-game workout. He was an autistic little boy needing a home.

Alden recently went to another Jazz warm-up, but there was one big difference — instead of sitting next to his case worker, he was sitting with his new mom and dad.

"We saw the 'Wednesday's Child' (and) we thought we were done adopting," said Dana, Alden's adoptive mother.

But they couldn't forget the little boy on TV, so Russ and Dana began the adoption process. Last week the adoption became official.

"Before we thought our family was complete, and then seeing him, we thought, 'No, there is room (in our family),’" said Russ, Alden's adoptive father.

Alden already feels comfortable with his family, and they're all bonding over his love of basketball.

"One of the first things we did was get a basketball hoop," Dana said.

Wednesday night, the entire family received star treatment sitting court side at the Jazz game. Alden only got a little shy when he met his favorite player, Gordon Hayward.

Dana said adding Alden to the family is already bringing sweet rewards.

"He came to me with a piece of paper and told me, 'It used to say I have a dog. Now it says I have a mom,’" she said through tears.

Although Alden is now with his permanent family, there are still many more children in foster care hoping to be adopted.
