DRAPER — A man died Wednesday morning from what police believe may have been the first and only alcohol-related vehicle fatality on the first day of 2014.
Draper police and the Unified Fire Department responded to a fatality from a car accident at 11500 S. 700 East at 2:04 a.m. Wednesday.
A 54-year-old man crashed his car into the rear of a semitrailer that was parked, police said. The man died at the scene.
No one was in the semi at the time of the accident, and there were no other passengers in the car the man was driving.
Investigators were still working to determine the cause of the accident Wednesday, though they believe the man may have been under the influence of alcohol, police said.
Police were still trying to contact the man's family Wednesday. His name was not immediately released.
