SALT LAKE CITY — While excavating a site in Salt Lake City, contractors unearthed several bone fragments Tuesday.
Police received a call from contractors working at 851 E. 500 South just after noon. The contractors said they had uncovered bones during a home excavation.
The bones were discovered in a container, Det. Veronica Montoya with the Salt Lake City Police Department said.
Police were unable to determine whether or not the bones were human or how old the fragments were.
The fragments were booked into evidence Tuesday, while police conduct an investigation. From there, the bones will head to the state anthropologist’s department for evaluation.
