SALT LAKE CITY — Gourmet food market Tony Caputo's and three bars were fined for selling alcohol to minors in October, according to a monthly report from the Utah Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control.
Tony Caputo's was given a 10 day license suspension and fined $3,000 plus additional costs totaling $127. The suspension occurred from Oct. 16-26. This was Caputo's second violation for selling alcohol to minors; the first incident was in February.
Desert Edge Brewery and Pub, Lumpy's Downtown and Layton's Goodtimes Saloon were all fined $3,000 plus costs for violations of selling alcohol to minors, having minors on the premise and failure to use a scanning device. It was the first offense for all three locations.

These types of fines for selling liquor to minors are common, according to Vickie Ashby of the Utah Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control.
The State Bureau of Investigation issues violations and refers them to the Utah Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control and Assistant Attorney General, who work with the licensees to come to terms with the violation before issuing the report, Ashby said.
