MILLCREEK — One man was arrested and investigators continued to look for a second suspect following a coffee shop stabbing.

About 10:30 p.m. Monday, three men entered the Bablion Coffee Shop, 834 E. 3400 South, and got into an argument with a 16-year-old girl and 20-year-old man, said Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal. The two parties knew each other and had had prior confrontations, Hoyal said.

The argument became physical between the 20-year-old man and two of the suspects, Hoyal said. At that point, an 18-year-old man, also known to the couple, tried to step in and break up the fight. Instead, he was stabbed in the torso, Hoyal said.

The suspects left the coffee shop and took off in a silver Lexus. Either friends or family members drove the 18-year-old to a local hospital while police were called, Hoyal said. He was in critical condition and listed as stable.

There were several witnesses to the stabbing who told detectives the suspects left in the Lexus. Just 10 minutes later, an officer spotted the vehicle near 5600 South and 1300 East. He waited for backup to get into position and then pulled the car over near 6600 South and 1300 East, Hoyal said.

Five or six people were in the vehicle. Ehsan Suhail, 20, who investigators believe was part of the confrontation at the coffee shop, was arrested for investigation of obstruction of justice. Hoyal said he is believed to have disposed of the knife used in the stabbing, which was later recovered.

Detectives Tuesday were still looking for the man suspected of stabbing the victim, but Hoyal said police know who they are looking for. He would not release the suspect's name.

Additional information will be posted as it becomes available.
