SOUTH JORDAN — A woman is dead and a man is injured after an early morning motorcycle crash.
Just after midnight Saturday, a male driver of a bullet bike-style Yamaha motorcycle, driving at a high rate of speed for the 30 mph zone, failed to negotiate a turn on 3200 West near 10950 South. The bike went to the right and crashed into a curb, South Jordan Police Department Sgt. Rich Whittaker reported.
The driver and the female passenger fell from the motorcycle in the crash, injuring both. Neither were wearing helmets.
In addition to excessive speed, alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, Whittaker said.
The 29-year-old woman was transported by medical helicopter to the University of Utah hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The 32-year-old driver was transported to the Intermountain Medical Center for several injuries, including a broken leg. Whittaker did not have further information on those injuries, or the man's current condition.
Police were not releasing the names of the individuals Saturday night, pending further investigation.
