WANSHIP — A semi-trailer crash that spilled about 100 gallons of fuel has closed eastbound lanes of I-80.
Thursday at approximately 2:40 p.m., a semi-trailer travelling eastbound on I-80 just outside of Wanship jack-knifed and crashed into the freeway's concrete barriers after the driver lost control of the truck on wet roads, Utah Highway Patrol reported.
The crash displaced about 10 roadside barriers and ruptured the truck's fuel tank, leaking about 100 gallons of diesel fuel onto the freeway in Silver Creek Canyon. The semi-trailer blocked eastbound lanes of traffic, UHP said.
The department closed the eastbound lanes to traffic, but expected them to reopen around 4:45 p.m.
The driver was uninjured in the crash.
