WEST VALLEY CITY — A West Valley City man faces a handful of felony charges after police say he impersonated an officer and raped a woman he met through a dating service.
CJ Christiansen, 28, was charged Wednesday in 3rd District Court with rape, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and forcible sodomy, all first-degree felonies, as well as forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony. He is also charged with impersonating a peace officer, a class B misdemeanor.
Police say Christiansen met the woman through a telephone dating service and went to her home in West Valley City on July 1. When he arrived, he told the woman he was a police officer and handcuffed her, according to charging documents. When the woman asked to see his badge, he told her no.

The woman told police Christiansen took out a gun, placed it on the table, and told her he could "work with her" about the arrest. He then sexually assaulted and raped her, charges state.
Christiansen told the woman he needed to take any money or drugs she had back to his supervisor, and he took $50 from her, according to the charges.
The woman called 911 when Christiansen left. An investigation revealed he was not employed by any police agency, charges state.
A warrant was issued Wednesday for Christiansen's arrest.
