PROVO — A man who investigators say fled to Mexico to avoid prosecution on multiple child sex abuse charges has been arrested and brought back to Utah County.
In December of 2008, Jess Amos Bunker was arrested for investigation of a number of child sex abuse charges. In January 2009, he was charged in Provo's 4th District Court with ten counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, all first-degree felonies. In March of 2009, he posted $20,000 bail and got out of jail but was expected to show up to his next court hearing.
Detectives believe in April of 2009, however, Bunker fled to Mexico, according to a Utah County inmate booking sheet.
Bunker, now 33, was tracked down in Colima, Mexico, on May 30, four years after he allegedly fled the country. He was extradited back to Utah on Monday and booked into the Utah County Jail.
A jail booking report said Bunker currently has a wife and child in Mexico. Authorities asked that he be held this time with no bail.
