SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Main Library was closed Monday afternoon after a man killed himself by jumping from the roof.
The 21-year-old man used a chair to climb over a railing and jumped from the roof about 4 p.m., said Jasen Asay, Salt Lake City Fire Department spokesman. The man landed in an outdoor stairwell near the library amphitheater and a back entrance to the basement-level children's section.
Library patrons who witnessed the suicide told police the man did not hesitate or communicate with anyone.
Police continued to investigate the man's death Monday.
