OGDEN — Construction work will begin next week to upgrade the deck structure of the I-84 bridge over I-15 in Riverdale, the Utah Department of Transportation said Friday.

During the week leading up to the start of bridge work, crews will continue asphalt paving operations on I-84 in both directions between the I-15 ramps and the Riverdale Road interchange. To facilitate final paving, a single-lane closure of the inside lane on I-15 northbound will be in effect from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly underneath the I-84 bridge.

Motorists are advised to watch for changing traffic patterns while crews conduct paving work.

During the I-84 bridge rehabilitation work, there will be a full closure of I-15 — both northbound and southbound — on the nights of Friday, June 14; Saturday, June 15; and Wednesday, June 19. The work will allow construction crews to begin conducting bridge deck structure demolition work at the I-84 bridge over I-15, UDOT stated.

The full closure of I-15 will be in effect from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. June 14-15 and June 19. Motorists should be alert for signs indicating detour routes.

Concurrently, there will be a full closure of I-84 in both directions between I-15 and Riverdale Road from June 14-20. Crews will be conducting bridge demolition and repair work on the I-84 bridge over I-15. The full closure will be in effect around the clock for six days.

Travelers are encouraged to watch for signs and to follow posted detour routes.
