KAYSVILLE — A Salt Lake City police officer was injured on a motorcycle training ride when the group encountered debris on I-15.
The officers were traveling south in the HOV lane near Kaysville about 2:20 p.m. when they came upon a large piece of metal, believed to be part of a refrigeration unit. The lead motorcycles in the group veered out of the way, but three drivers hit the debris.
The second officer's motorcycle went down after he hit the debris. He was taken to an area hospital, initially believed to be in serious condition. His condition was later upgraded and was reported to be in good spirits.
The officer's name was not released Wednesday.
