SANDY — Weiner dogs raced for the chance to be crowned "Grand Prize Weiner" on Friday at the South Towne Center Mall at the Morning Moo Crew's Weiner Dog Race.
Dogs, owners, and fans enjoyed barbeque and ice cream on the lawns of the mall. Over 50 dogs competed in the race and some had very unique names including Rufus, Willie, Mr. Bust-a-weinie, Charlie Chow, and Porky.
Owners held their dogs at the start line and let them go at the announcer's cue. The dogs had friends and family waiting at the finish line to show them where to run and encourage them finish the race.
The grand prize included two tickets to the sold out Taylor Swift concert, a $500 gift certificate to Willow Creek Pet Center, a $100 gift card to South Town Center, and a puppy pampering night's stay at Hotel Monaco in Salt Lake City. Each weiner dog contestant also had the chance to win several Willow Creek Pet Center prize packs.
