TAYLORSVILLE — A garage fire large enough to bring out two engines left a family temporarily without a home in Taylorsville Sunday.

Unified Fire responded to the blaze after a passerby noticed smoke emanating from the garage of 4876 S. Hidden Cove Dr. 1080 West.

Captain Clint Mecham said that firefighters were able to largely prevent the flames from entering the main part of the home, and had the fire under control in about a half hour.

No one was in the home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries. Because of damage top the structure leaving the attic exposed to the elements, the family can't reside in the home for the time being.

"Because nobody was home, it had a little bit of a head start on us," Mecham said.

Investigators still don't know the cause of the fire, but expect to know in the next several days.
