Surveillance video shows coffee shop burglary; police seek info

SALT LAKE CITY — Police are asking the public to help them identify an individual who appears to have burglarized a local business.

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, Nov. 21, police say a man broke into Caffe Expresso on 602 E. 2100 South through the shop's drive-thru window.

The break-in, caught on surveillance video released by Salt Lake City police, shows the man approaching the building and attempting to pry open the window for several minutes with his gloved hands.

Once he slides the window open, he jumps through the opening and climbs over stack of metallic chairs inside.

According to police, the man then stole money from the business.

Salt Lake City Police Department describes the burglar as "possibly Hispanic," adult male wearing a red beanie, dark blue hoodie, blue jeans, black skater shoes and white knitted gloves.

Anyone with information is asked to call (801) 799-3000 or text anonymous tips to CRIMES, 274637, with "TIPSLCPD,"information and case number 12-201246.
