BLUFFDALE — A new big scale master planned community is about to be built at the south end of the Salt Lake Valley and the builders say Utah's housing market is making a turn for the better.
Houses at Independence at the Point development are schedule to start being built next month. The development is a master planned community with spots for more than 1,900 homes.
According to one of the project partners, Nathan Shipp, they began getting calls about six months ago from home builders looking for lots — an indication that Utah's housing market is turning the corner. The latest housing numbers for Utah indicate that may be the case as well.
Independence at the Point is a 294-acre development off of 14600 South in Bluffdale. Shipps says the location, on the border or Utah and Salt Lake counties, is in demand.
