CYPRESS, Texas — A Utah couple moved into their dream home in Texas and almost immediately became sick. Mold was growing throughout the house.

"My eyes were burning, my throat was burning, my chest felt heavy, and then I became very congested," says Christy Edgerly.

Edgerly found mold in corners, on vents, and even in her daughter's bedroom. After speaking with neighbors she learned there was a little more history to the home.

"They pulled 400 plants out of that particular house," said one neighbor.

For two years it was used as a grow house for marijuana. Water and heat lamps weren't only helping to grow pot plants but also mold. Police told neighbors a lot of work needed to be done before anyone could move in.

"He said well what they're going to have to do is take all the sheet rock out and take all the carpet out and duct work out, replace all of that, and then it will be inhabitable again," said one neighbor.

But it never happened.

"Well they just painted over everything," said Edgerly.

The family is now getting back their deposit and rent money, but they now have more moving expenses and are searching for a new place to live.
