ROOSEVELT — A house fire in Roosevelt on Thursday left investigators wondering how it happened.
The fire broke out around 9:15 pm Thursday night and kept firefighters busy until about 1:30 am Friday morning. Investigators think the cold may have been a factor.
"(We'd like to) remind everyone to be safe, especially at this time of year, as they begin wood burning stoves and as winter comes on — things will be cooling down and they'll start using appliances and things," said Assistant Roosevelt Fire Department Chief Nathan Goodrich. "Just be careful."
No one was home when the fire started, and the homeowner's dogs were in the backyard.
Firefighters say the woman who lived alone in the home is staying with family. The house and everything inside was destroyed.
