SALEM — Fire destroyed a classic car and damaged the garage of a home in Salem Monday night.
The fire near 1080 South and 550 West started as the homeowner was working on a Jeep in his garage.
The engine caught fire, then the flames spread to the rest of the garage. Everything inside was damaged, including the Jeep and a late '60s classic Pontiac Firebird. Damage is estimated at $125,000.
Crews from three cities responded to the alarm and doused the fire before it could spread to the house. However, one nearby home sustained minor damage.
No one was injured.
