SNOW CANYON — A girl who was accidentally buried in sand while playing in Washington County's Snow Canyon has died as a result of her injuries.

Friday, 15-year-old Whitney Webb was digging in the sand with her three younger siblings. They dug a hole roughly 4 feet deep.

When it was discovered that Webb was not with the family as they prepared to leave, the returned to the hole and found it caved in with Webb's hair sticking out.

She had no pulse and was not breathing when pulled from the hole, though both were eventually restored by first aid.

She was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center and later to Primary Children's Hospital in critical condition.

Primary Children's spokesperson Bonnie Midget confirmed that Webb had passed away Saturday evening.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
