SALT LAKE CITY &8212; A suspicious package was found in downtown Salt Lake Friday evening.

At about 5 p.m., there were reports of a suspicious package on left in front of a dentist's office at 32 North State Street. Someone from a neighboring business called in the report, according to SLCPD Lt. J.R. Nelson.

Salt Lake City police bomb squad responded and a robot was brought in to inspect the package.

After several hours, the bag was "disrupted" three times in order to ascertain the contents, nelson said. Police determined that the package was a computer bag that contained books and papers, but no computer. There were no explosives in the bag.

The incident was a major traffic disruption downtown during peak traffic hours. The bag's owner will be contacted in order to determine why the bag was left there, Nelson said.
