SANPETE COUNTY — Thousands of Utahns are loading up the trailers, trucks and RV's for the opening of the rifle deer hunt Saturday.
The goal? Hunt a big buck and have a good time doing it.
This year, 52,000 hunters and their parties are expected to take part in the deer hunt, making it the biggest outdoor event in Utah.
Due to last year's mild winter, outdoorsmen should expect to see a lot of small buck.
One change outdoorsmen should be aware of: hunters may only hunt within the 30 units set aside for that purpose, rather than the previous five general regions. Those who drew a general-season deer permit, were sent a map with the permit in the mail, containing information about which units in which they may hunt.
