PLEASANT GROVE — A semi truck stolen Friday morning was recovered Saturday after a tip lead to its location.
The truck and trailer belonged to Travis Fairbourn, who supports his small family as an independent truck driver. The truck was recovered with some damage to the cab, though the trailer and its load are still missing. The truck and trailer are worth about $90,000, while the cargo is valued at more than $100,000.
An hour after a story aired on KSL Friday night, his phone rang. West Valley City Police told him they had received a tip leading them to his truck at 1385 W. 2200 South.
Police believe thieves ditched the trailer within five miles of where the cab was found, as it is easy to detach.
"As soon as I get that, I can get things back together and get back on the road," Fairborn said. "Thanks to all the good neighbors and KSL, I was able to recover half of it and hopefully the other half will come through."
Fairborn hopes someone in the area sees the abandoned white trailer and calls police so he can get back to supporting his family. Police plan on searching for the suspects and Fairborn is hoping for a good outcome.
As an independent driver and the owner of the trailer, he is unable to replace it and get back on the road.
Police ask that anyone with information regarding the trailer contact police.
