SALT LAKE CITY — A piece of plywood replaced where a window used to be at the President Obama campaign headquarters in downtown Salt Lake City after a brick was thrown through the window.

Thursday morning around 9a.m., police responded to a call at the headquarters building located at 175 West 200 South.

"Somebody had thrown a rock through the front window of the building," said Carlie Wiechman, Salt Lake Police Detective.

So far that is the only information that investigators have to go on. The building manager is reviewing the property's video footage.

"If they're able to find anything then they'll forward that (the video) on to us," Wiechman said.

Investigators are not sure if the vandalism was politically motivated or random.

"Whether they knew that was the campaign headquarters or not, it's unsure," said Wiechman. "Unfortunately in the city we do tend to get random events of vandalism."

Wiechman also asked anyone with information related to this case to call Salt Lake City Police at 801-799-3000.
