OGDEN — A 22-year-old man was in critical condition Sunday evening after a car accident set his car on fire.

Investigators from the Weber County Sheriff's Office said, at around 11 p.m. Saturday, the man was driving north on 4300 West, going at least 100 miles per hour. When the driver reached a dead end at 12th Street, he and couldn't stop the vehicle.

"There were actually some railroad ties piled up — they were doing some maintenance on the tracks — and he scattered those, went over two sets of railroad tracks, and ended up on the north side of the road," said Weber County Sheriff's Lt. Mark Lowther. "I would estimate that he travel close to 200 feet after impacting the concrete barriers."

The car rolled several times before stopping and catching fire.

Police suspect alcohol was a factor in the crash. The driver's name has not be released.
