TAYLORSVILLE — A man ran his car into a brick wall after trying to stop two men who robbed him.

Around 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning, the 30-year-old victim was waiting for some friends outside of a club near 3900 West and 5400 South in Taylorsville when he was approached by two men, who invited him to a nearby apartment complex.

When the victim arrived at the complex in his vehicle, one of the men approached him and pointed a gun at the victim and demanded money. The victim handed some cash and personal belongings to the robber.

The victim then rammed his car into the robbers' vehicle, slamming it into another parked car, and then losing control of his own vehicle, running it into a brick wall. The victim left his car and ran back to the club for help. Officers were dispatched to the apartment complex where the robbery happened and they arrested Damien Mayo Martinez.

SWAT served a search warrant at an apartment in the complex and arrested the suspect's sister, Tiffany A. Martinez, who attempted to hide some of the stolen property.

Police are still looking for the second man, who was allegedly involved in the robbery.

Though it resulted in two arrests, police recommend not following this victim's example of defense.

"We never recommend people take that kind of action, especially when someone's armed," said Unified Police Department Lt. Justin Hoyal.

No injuries were reported.
