LOGAN — A man who was arrested for driving under the influence three times in less than 48 hours has been released from jail after posting a $30,000 bail.

Daniel Kropf, of Logan, was arrested on July 9 for three DUIs, all of which occurred after he was involved in another traffic accident that nearly killed another man.

Joe White was working at a Logan Maverik that evening, and while he was taking the trash out to the dumpster, he says Kropf crashed into him with his truck pulling a trailer, trapping White between the dumpster and a shed.

"The first thing I thought is, "I'm dying. This is it. I'm dying. I am dead,' " White said.

A passerby started hitting Kropf's car window to tell him to stop as White screamed, but White says Kropf continued to step on the gas.

"I could hear every bone breaking," White said.

His foot was shattered in 30 places, he broke several ribs, cracked his collar bone, and his lungs punctured, among other injuries. He will not be able to walk for another 6 months, and doctors expect he will never fully recover.

At the time, police chalked it up to a horrible accident. But during the next 48 hours, Kropf was arrested three times for driving under the influence, as authorities found Oxycodone in his system. And even though officers didn't check him at the time, White is confident Kropf was high when he hit him.

"He didn't show any emotion," White said. "He kept telling everybody I was OK."

White's attorney, Dustin Lance, has filed a civil lawsuit against Kropf.
