Salt Lake City Fire Department's Summer Safety Fair

Local happenings: A Neon Trees homecoming and an annual safety fair

With the recent wildfires racing their way through the southwestern states, it's important to learn all that is possible to keep the community safe and fire free. Thankfully, the Salt Lake City Fire Department is holding its annual Summer Safety Fair on Friday, June 1.

The fair's purpose is to educate the community on safety tactics that can be used in the event of an emergency, such as CPR demonstrations and a fire safety trailer. The SLCFD will demonstrate equipment such as a bomb squad robot and some of the smartest dogs around, demonstrating their bomb training.

Although educational, the fair boasts food and fun-filled activities designed for the entire family, including a firefighter combat challenge for kids, and a bike rodeo.

The fair will be held at the Utah State Fairpark located at 155 North 1000 West, in Salt Lake.

The concerts are free to the public, bringing an array of artists in genres from jazz, funk, country, rock and pop.

The Gateway already offers a large variety of shopping, dining and entertainment in Downtown Salt Lake.
