LOS ANGELES -- Gotye is quickly becoming a household name as his single, "Somebody That I Used To Know," has become one of the year's most popular songs.

Fox's hit TV show, "Glee," helped the song hit number one on the charts, but at least one person is not happy with the Glee rendition, the singer himself.

Gotye - Somebody That I Use To Know

Wally de Backer is the 31-year-old Australian musician behind the hit single. The song has enjoyed huge success, but with the Glee cover and Gotye's appearance on "Saturday Night Live" the song shot to number one on the Billboard 100 singles chart and made Gotye only the fourth Australian artist to have a number one song. But despite the boost the Glee cover gave the song, Gotye was not impressed.

"They did such a faithful arrangement of the instrumentals but the vocals were that pop Glee style, ultra-dry, sounded pretty tuned and the rock has no real sense. Like it's playing to you from a cardboard box," de Backer told the Sunday Mail. "It made it sound dinky and wrong."

Do you think the cover was a poor representation of the song? Or do you feel Gotye is being a little harsh? Tell us on the comment boards and on our Facebook page.
