SALT LAKE CITY — One man was arrested Saturday night after allegedly shooting two men – killing one and injuring the other.
Salt Lake police Lt. Brian Purvis said three men were involved in a verbal dispute at 440 N. Grant Street when one of the men drew a gun and fired at the other two. One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene, he said, and the other was transported to an area hospital in serious condition.
Purvis said the shooting took place in front of the home in view of several witnesses, including children. One child received a minor leg injury, which Purvis said may have been caused by shrapnel from the gunfire.
"We've got a lot of different witness accounts," he said. "It's hard to say for sure what transpired."
Police were called to the scene, where the suspect surrendered without incident, Purvis said. The three men were between the ages of 25 and 35, Purvis said. Their names were not yet available.
Purvis said the three men knew each other and may have had ties to gangs, but it was not known whether the incident was gang-related.
