SALT LAKE CITY — Longtime KSL-TV anchor Bruce Lindsay has been called to serve as president of the Australia Perth Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Lindsay is among 110 new mission presidents called to serve in countries throughout the world, the church announced.

Lindsay, 61, announced his retirement from broadcasting in January. He is KSL-TV's primary news anchor and has anchored evening newscasts for the station continuously since 1978.

He has said he will continue in that position until June. The new mission presidents begin their assignments in July.

Lindsay and his wife, Shari, are the parents of six children.
