ZION NATIONAL PARK — The advent of December means a quieter time at Zion National Park, with reduced services but more chances for solitude.

Superintendent Jock Whitworth said the voluntary shuttle service that provides transportation to the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive has ended, with overall shuttle service set to resume on April 1.

For visitors interested in spending the night in the park this winter, the Watchman Campground and Zion Lodge are open year-round. The Zion Canyon Visitor Center for information on park activities and trail conditions will remain open from 8 a.m to 5 p.m. daily. The Kolob Canyons Visitor Center is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily through December. Both visitors centers are closed on Dec. 25.
