SALT LAKE CITY — It's the news that fans of the rivalry wanted to hear.
Though not official (pending Pac-12 approval), it appears that the Utes and the Cougars will continue their annual rivalry with additional games scheduled in 2017 and 2018.
Utah Athletic Director Chris Hill made the announcement in a video posted on the school's YouTube account Tuesday morning.

The 2017 contest, slated to be played in Provo, will be scheduled in early September of that year.
Hill is hopeful that the 2018 contest, scheduled to return to Salt Lake City, will be played as the last game of the season for both schools, but that Utah will need authorization from the Pac-12 to schedule a nonconference game outside of the first few weeks of the season. Hill expects a decision from the league by mid-August.
After the Utes and Cougars meet this season in Provo on September 21, the rivalry will take a two year hiatus before resuming in 2016 in Salt Lake City.
