(KSL News) Dick is known as much for his charming smile, suspenders, cowboy boots and pocket handkerchief as he is for his authoritative delivery of the day's headlines.

We thought you'd enjoy this humorous take on Dick's long career from Utah songwriter Robert Lund. The words go to the tune of "King Tut," by Steve Martin. *Dick Nourse

Well way back in the 60s
This newsboy newbie felt-'e
Would look real good on TV
With Paul James and Bob Welti

Soon Utah got a hankerin'
To see the Nourse Man anchorin'
Moved here from Grand Junction
Made the newscast function
Dick Nourse

(That's Camera 2, Mr. Nourse)

If Dick were not an anchor
I swear this ain't a joke, he
Would prob'ly do more sailing
or country karaoke

He twice defeated cancer
He's quite the two-step dancer
Delivers information
On my fav'rite station
Dick Nourse

(He puts the "top" in "top story")

He makes a lotta loot
Spends it all on cowboy boots
He likes to play the trumpet
His wife just hopes he'll dump it

In person he's a sweet guy
With such a friendly laugh
But he's also got the muscles
To tear you right in half

A big-time entertainer
He's a hall-of-famer!
Here at NBC he...
Is king of Must-See TV
Dick Nourse

(Wow! How much can that guy bench press?)

I think of him retiring
And I'm so sad I'm SICK
I'll tune in to the newscast
But now I won't get...Richard!

He cuts through the confusion
He's an institution!
Folks from Logan to La Verkin
Will miss seeing you workin'
Forty-three years sure is nifty
...Could you stick around for fifty?

Lund also wrote a second song for Dick. It goes to the tune of "Cowboy Rides Away," by George Strait. You can listen to it as well by clicking the related link.
