OREM, Utah (AP) -- Senior forward Durrall Peterson scored 20 points to lead Utah State to a 69-65 victory against Utah Valley State on Saturday.

The Aggies (8-1) were clinging to a one-point lead with less than a minute to play, but Peterson scored Utah States final five points to secure the win over the Wolverines (5-4).

With the Aggies leading 64-63 and 59 seconds left in the game, UVSC center Joe Walker swatted Utah State forward Chaz Spicers shot into the stands. Only four seconds remained on the shot clock, but Peterson got the ensuing inbounds pass and drained a 3-pointer from the right corner.

Utah Valley State forward David Heck sank a long jumper from the top of the key to pull the Wolverines to within 67-65, but Peterson made it a two-possession game by making two free throws with 18.8 seconds left to put Utah State up 69-65 for good.

Facing a full-court press, UVSC struggled to advance the ball up the court on its final possession following the second of Petersons free throws. Sophomore shooting guard Ryan Toolson missed badly on Utah Valley States final shot of the game, a 3-point attempt from the left wing with six seconds remaining.

The Aggies trailed 27-26 at halftime, but surged early in the second half to lead by as many as seven points. Although the score was tied twice late in the game, Utah State never trailed after taking the lead in the early moments after halftime.

Toolson, who came into the game shooting 53.2 percent on 3-point attempts, was 0-for-8 Saturday.

Jaycee Carroll scored 18 for the Aggies. Richard Troyer came off the bench to score 16 for the Wolverines.
