PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- Portland State battled back from a 19-point halftime deficit to defeat Utah Valley State 71-69 on Saturday night.
Portland State's Dupree Lucas hit a running jumper in the lane with 3.5 seconds left to give the Vikings only their second lead of the night and cap a dramatic comeback. Juma Kamara led the Vikings (5-3) with 18 points. Scott Morrison had 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Ryan Toolson scored 23 points to lead Utah Valley State (4-3) and hit all five of his 3-point attempts. David Heck added 17 points for the Wolverines.
Utah Valley State jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead in the first five minutes of the game and held Portland State scoreless from the field until Sean Smith hit a short runner with 14:13 left in the half. The Wolverines put together a 15-4 run to end the first half and led 24-43 at the break.
PSU rallied in the second half and outscored the Wolverines 47-26. Kamara and Morrison combined for 27 of those points.
