A young lady from Rich High School tried to lasso a state title this week in breakaway roping. Her name shows that her father is a big fan of Harrison Ford.

She doesn't stand out in a crowd, standing just 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighing just over 100 pounds. But her name is a show stopper: Indy Anna Jones, just like in the movie.

"If she's misbehaving, it's Indy. If it's worse, it's Indiana," said her father, Lee Jones.

Indy said, "We have all the movies, so it was nothing new until you get people coming up saying, ‘Is your name really Indiana Jones?'"

Her mother, Jody Jones, said, "I wanted my first child to have a really unique name." The story behind how she got her name is as unique as the name itself. After long labor, Jody was rushed into emergency surgery.

"It was always a little joke between Lee and I. He said, ‘I'm going to name her Indiana,' and I said, ‘If you do I'll break your neck,'" she explained.

"They said, ‘What you gonna name her?' And I said, ‘Indy Anna Jones,'" Lee said. "And when she woke up, she just kind of went, ‘No.'"

"He told me, ‘I've done it. I've done it, babe. It's Indy Anna Jones.' I'm like, ‘Oh, Lee, you didn't,'" Jody said.

Lee added, "I think she was still kind of sedated, thank goodness."

But through the years, the name has just seemed to fit. Indy said, "I love it because he (Indiana Jones) is tough but he hates snakes." She says she's not afraid of snakes.

Her parents say her name worked out to fit her perfectly. "When she was little she was just a ball of fire," Jody said.

We asked Indy, "Do you ever wish your parents named you Susie or Mary?" She answered, "No, not really. It's a unique name and it helps me stand out."

That it certainly does. Besides, if her name wasn't Indy, her parents say they wanted to name her something like Dally Rope Jones.

Indy had a best time of 2.21 in breakaway roping at the Utah High School Rodeo Finals in Heber City. She did not qualify for nationals.
