SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah men's basketball team opens its exhibition schedule Thursday night at the Jon M. Huntsman Center. The Runnin' Utes will play host to Montana Tech at 7 p.m.

It will be the first game coached at the Huntsman Center for Utah head coach Jim Boylen. Expected to start for Boylen's squad are junior guard Tyler Kepkay, junior guard Lawrence Borha, sophomore forward Stephen Weigh, junior forward Shaun Green and junior center Luke Nevill.

Montana Tech comes into the game with a 1-2 record. The Orediggers dropped a 73-67 decision to Calgary in the season-opener, before falling to Black Hills State 84-76. Montana Tech will enter the exhibition game with the Utes coming off a 75-61 victory over South Dakota Tech.

Montana Tech is a member of the NAIA Frontier Conference. The Orediggers were 10-18 last season. Nate Larson is in his second season as the head coach at Montana Tech.

Utah will wrap up exhibition play at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, hosting Northwest Nazarene. That game will be part of a doubleheader, as the Ute women will host Fort Lewis College in an exhibition contest at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The Runnin' Ute regular-season opener is slated for Nov. 9, when South Carolina Upstate pays a visit to the Huntsman Center. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.
